How are Markups and Minimum Margins calculated and accounted for

The Minimum Margin field can act as a margin boost (Positive value) or a discount (Negative value). The purpose of this field and the min. margin setting is to allow installers to safely negotiate with the homeowners while having visibility on the margin he/company is earning and ensuring that they do not go below the minimum margin accidentally , hence it acts as a safety net.

Important : Ask our Customer Success team to activate the Minimum Margin tab for your account.

How it works  ?
First , add a min markup percentage on the costing profile by navigating to settings > costing setup tab.
Then, add the required percentage to the Minimum Margin column & save the costing profile.

Output - When you are on a Project and select the required costing profile , you will see an additional row named "Margin Adjustment" which will allow you to input a value & right below you will see another active tab named "Base Margin" which will confirm the base allowable average margin percentage discount beyond which the Installer must not go.

Now , try inputting a Negative Value to Margin Adjustment field and you will see the Base Margin percentage dropping until it throws an error if you go beyond the "Base Margin" Threshold.

Please note - If the minimum margin tab is not activated , the margin adjustor will not work for discounts.
