When designing a solar PV system, there are several potential obstacles and considerations on the roof that need to be taken into account to ensure a successful and efficient installation.

 

 

Here are steps and different types of Obstacles that can be drawn on the roof:

  1. Freeform:  This type of obstacle is used for a freeform style of drawing the obstacle on the roof
    • Click on Freeform under Obstacles section
    • Draw along the edges of the obstacle to complete the drawing on the roof. The height of the obstacle is autodetected if using Nearmaps but you can adjust the height under Properties.


  2. Rectangle: Create rectangular obstacles on the roof.
  • Click on rectangle under Obstacles section
  • You can adjust the height of the obstacle, change width, and rotate as well under the Properties section.

3. Circle: Create circular obstacles on the roof section.

  • Click on Circle under Obstacles section.
  • You can adjust the height & diameter of the circle under the Properties section.

     

4. Walkways: Walkways provides non-slip, safe and all-weather access for maintenance of solar panels and frequently accessed areas without damage on roofs.

  • Click on Walkway under Obstacles section.
  • Draw along the roof section where you want to create a walkway.
  • You can edit length and width of walkway.
